Since 1978, Air Inuit has been providing scheduled air services, charter flights, cargo transportation, and emergency air transport throughout Nunavik and beyond, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Air Inuit is collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik through Makivvik Corporation. The airline operates a fleet of more than 35 aircraft, ranging from the De Havilland Twin Otter 300 Series to the Boeing 737-200, 300, and 800, and employs over 1,000 people in one of the most challenging flight environments in the world.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Vice President of Ground Operations plays a strategic role within the organization and contributes directly to the efficiency, safety, and growth of operations. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for the following:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define the direction, priorities, and standards for Ground Operations across our 18 Class 1, 2, and 3 stations.
- Lead and guide departmental managers, including skills development, employee engagement, and team performance.
- Actively participate in Air Inuit’s Integrated Safety Management System (SMS/IMS) and ensure rigorous application of safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Sit on the company’s management committee and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Participate in the development of key corporate strategies and organizational planning.
- Participate in various infrastructure projects.
- Prepare, manage, and closely monitor operational plans and annual budgets.
- Develop, update, and ensure compliance with department-specific manuals, procedures, and policies.
- Support the Director of Northern Infrastructure Services (buildings, staff housing, etc.) by providing strategic, operational, and administrative support to ensure the performance, compliance, and reliability of these essential facilities.
- Negotiate, finalize, and manage agreements with suppliers, contractors, and consultants related to departmental activities.
- Represent the company with external partners, government bodies, and institutions (ARK, MTMD, TC, SDBJ, etc.).
- Compile, analyze, and interpret statistics related to ground operations and cargo activities to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Perform any other related duties as requested by Management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Be a dynamic, motivated, and results-oriented individual.
- Have significant management experience (8 years or more) in the commercial aviation sector.
- Strong experience managing multiple, multi-location teams.
- Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written; knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset.
- Excellent understanding of operations in a northern environment.
- Training or certification in administration (an asset).
- Strong knowledge of air transportation regulations and Transport Canada requirements.
- Ability to negotiate, conclude, and implement service agreements with various suppliers and consultants.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and proven management skills.
- Availability to travel to Nunavik, the Côte-Nord, and other destinations.
- Ability to obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identity Card and hold a valid passport.
