Role Summary
We are looking for a Principal, Creative Studio Copy to join Creative Studio—the dynamic, collaborative in-house agency responsible for developing and executing brand, spaneting, design and storytelling initiatives across the Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines brands alongside our soon-to-be-launched single, combined loyalty program. Working closely with internal stakeholders across the organization, we deliver high-impact creative work that sparks travel stories, brand affinity and connection. The ideal candidate will be a big idea generator who knows how to craft messaging that moves people—whether it’s a headline, a 360 integrated campaign, or a two-word TikTok caption. As a key member of the creative team, you’ll work closely with design, strategy, visual storytelling, social and cross-functional internal clients to develop bold, brand-building work across a variety of channels. Concepting is your second language and you’re obsessed with finding just the right words to bring an idea to life. You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, high-energy environment and are an absolute pro at consuming culture, always at the ready to incorporate emerging trends into your ideation process (before it’s yesterday’s news.)
Key Duties
Use copy expertise to partner with art, copy and strategy to drive and own the develop campaign concepts, unique brand stories, and inspired creative output through the defined lens of the Alaska brand persona.
Write compelling, on-brand copy across all formats—TV, digital, social, experiential, print, OOH and beyond.
Own copy from concept through execution, with a strong attention to voice, tone and style.
Present to leadership and internal stakeholders with a strong ability to confidently “sell” the underlying strategy and direction of big ideas, product names, onboard scripts, emails, web pages, social posts and more.
Ensure a consistent and cohesive brand voice, tone, and copy style across all guest-facing channels, maintaining alignment with established editorial guidelines and communication standards.
Maintain a strong awareness of emerging social trends, new platforms and technologies, and mainstream cultural conversations to inform and inspire culturally relevant creative thinking.
Utilize relevant data and consumer insights to iterate and improve upon copy effectiveness.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
7 years of experience writing copy in a traditional advertising or in-house creative agency environment.
Bachelor’s degree in the creative arts, Marketing, or Communications or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Think and act both strategically and tactically as a tenacious self-starter who can serve as a strong advocate for the voice of our guests.
Exceptional storytelling, writing, and presentation skills.
Confidence to question and challenge creative briefs on a mission to make the work sharper, fresher and bolder.
Ability to take direction and effectively work both collaboratively and autonomously.
Masterful time management skills with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, often under pressure and easily pivot when faced with unexpected schedule changes and fluctuations in workload.
Impeccable attention to detail.
A portfolio of case studies or work that showcases breakthrough ideas backed by your words.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Familiarity with best SEO practices.
Experience writing for a wide range of vastly different brand categories and products.
Passion and curiosity for global travel and experiences. You want to see the world and inspire others to do the same.

Salary Range
$120,400 - $180,600 / year
Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)
$132,440 - $198,660
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
