Role title
Head of Business Insights
Your role
As Head of Business Insights in Aer Lingus, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Aer Lingus’s enterprise-wide data strategy. Acting as a strategic partner to directors and executives across the organisation, you will ensure that data-driven decision-making is embedded at every level.
You will lead local analytics teams, prioritise high-value data products, and translate complex business needs into actionable insights that drive measurable outcomes. Your work will directly impact operational efficiency, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction.
You will serve as central connector for the Aer Lingus Data Driven Organisation (DDO) programme, fostering deep partnerships with senior leaders across Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Customer. By aligning data strategy with enterprise transformation goals, you will champion initiatives that unlock insights and deliver tangible improvements across Aer Lingus.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Serve as the primary interface between the DDO programme and senior business stakeholders, including directors and executives across commercial, operations, finance, and customer domains.
- Translate strategic objectives into data-driven initiatives, ensuring alignment with Aer Lingus’ transformation goals and the broader IAG data vision.
- Champion a culture of data literacy and insight-led decision-making across the organisation, contributing to the DDO’s cultural change agenda.
- Lead the prioritisation and delivery of high-impact data products and insight solutions, ensuring they are aligned to business value and measurable outcomes.
- Oversee the development of dashboards, predictive models, and self-service analytics tools that empower business users to make informed decisions.
- Collaborate with the Data Product Managers, AI Platform Leads, and Data Governance teams to ensure data products are scalable, governed, and trusted.
- Lead and mentor a distributed team of local analytics professionals embedded across business units (e.g., Ops, M&E, Customer, Finance).
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, agile delivery, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Support the development of analytics capabilities through coaching, training, and participation in the Data Literacy Academy.
- Ensure all insights and data products adhere to governance standards, including data quality, privacy, and ethical AI practices.
- Contribute to the DDO Value Realisation Framework by linking insights to key business metrics such as RASK/CASK, OTP, NPS, and CO₂.
- Participate in programme governance forums, including the Data Council and DDO Townhalls.
Your qualifications and key criteria
- Proven experience (8+ years) in business intelligence, analytics, or data strategy roles, ideally within a complex, regulated, or customer-centric environment.
- Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics).
- Deep understanding of data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Tableau Cloud), data governance, and AI/ML applications in business contexts.
- Strategic thinker with a bias for action and a passion for unlocking business value through data.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders, including C-level executives.
- Familiarity with agile delivery models and product management principles.
- Experience in aviation, travel, or logistics sectors is a plus.
