As Cargo Operations Officer you’ll be responsible for monitoring and managing a third party, handling the company’s performance in achieving Service Level and Standard Ground Handling Agreements in accordance with the Cargo business objectives. You will endure the highest Customer Service standard and the safety and security of all aspects of the operation are monitored and always maintained. The role is based at Virgin Atlantic Cargo - MIA Airport
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the overall responsibility of ensuring that the operation runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Act as the point of contact across the Virgin Atlantic Ramp handling process for the delivery of the day’s Cargo loading Operation.
  • Audit the performance of the third-party handling companies to: - Identify and record discrepancies to the service provided in relation to the established SLA
  • Respond promptly and professionally to requests, inquiries, and queries, from whatever source - customers, internal VS departments and suppliers, etc.
  • Oversee the preparation of the export loads, ULD build-up, and paperwork and coordinate with the third-party handling agents ensuring that VS requirements are adhered to.
  • Look for improvement opportunities in service provision (both internally and externally).
  • Ascertain that freight and documents are positioned at each departing aircraft within the prescribed time frame.
  • Make operational decisions at short notice, taking into consideration commercial issues, security, safety, customer service, long and short-term impact, and any potential impact in other areas of the company.
  • Develop a working relationship with local airport authority, Third party handling company and other local authorities.
  • Maintain good communication and develop effective working relationships at all levels within all areas of the business.
  • Ensure the flow of communication between all parties is both accurate and effective and that the highest level of service is maintained at all times.
Have you previously worked as an Officer in the airfreight industry? Do you have strong knowledge of U.S. Governmental agencies import/export documentation/regulations? Then this could be the role for you!

Alongside the above, we’re looking for the following:

  • A team player, self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent relationship builder with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with the Ground Handling Agency (GHA) staff.
  • Ability to organize workload and prioritize/handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to ensure that the GHA staff assigned to our daily operation is adequately resourced, skilled, and structured to deliver expected results.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and to maintain a professional relationship with all internal and external customers.
  • Able to maintain a flexible work schedule as required by operational needs.
  • Familiarity with working in a supply chain management work environment, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The right to live and work in the US
