Role Overview

Northstar Aerospace, now a part of Avio Aero - a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading independent manufacturer of components and assemblies to the global Aerospace industry. Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. They will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for themself and others, and have the ability to affect both short-term and some long-term business goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering guidance to product design, manufacturing process, and capital equipment development
  • Act as the technical lead for the Operations group on new product introductions
  • Ensure design and process meet the needs of Production and the overall business strategy
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings
  • Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budget(s)
  • Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation
  • Conduct Cost-Benefit Analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment
  • Drive safety projects and ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment
  • Own all aspects of designing and implementing capable manufacturing processes for both Northstar and suppliers
  • Take ownership of Production, Assembly, Tooling, and Test & Calibration where required
  • Identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variations and product quality issues caused by process variation
  • Lead high-impact process and quality improvement projects to reduce defects and increase productivity
  • Guide and partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Technology, Sourcing, Manufacturing, vendors, etc.) to solve product / process issues impacting product or delivery performance
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs, and increase capacity
  • Follow Lean principles to define critical requirements, design processes, and lead design team to define manufacturing specifications, complete process qualification, and demonstrate required capabilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Manufacturing)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, ideally within the Aerospace industry
  • 5+ years of experience in high precision machining, ideally within new product or “launch” environments
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound, independent judgment on matters of importance to Northstar’s operations
  • Ability to work as part of a team with little or no supervision
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing Assembly (DFMA)
  • Experience leading Lean and/or Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Strong manufacturing process knowledge and mechanical / electronics design experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

The base pay range for this position is $83,050.00 - $124,520.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close by February 20, 2026.
