The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. Key Responsibilities:
- Dimensional Accuracy: Utilize complex measuring devices to generate and check part dimensions during various machining stages, ensuring precision and accuracy.
- Critical Indication: Perform precise indicating on parts, where true indicator reading (TIR) and four-point indication are essential to the machining process.
- Record Keeping: Accurately account for your time using the prescribed system, electronically maintain records, logbooks, and charts, and produce electronic or manual reports.
- Training and Development: Help train operators to use specific equipment, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Quality Assurance: Achieve all required tolerances and finishes that meet standards set by Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Assurance, ensuring all characteristics generated at designated operations are conforming through applicable inspection techniques.
- Certification: Obtain and maintain the CVP certification, with training provided to support your professional growth.
- Traceability: Accurately serialize parts to maintain traceability at all times, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participate in daily team meetings and activities, practicing direct professional communication with team members and contributing to a positive team dynamic.
- Equipment Operation: Perform set-up and operation of equipment according to drawings, method sheets, and occasionally supplement this information with your own job knowledge.
- Material Handling: Utilize forklifts, cranes, and material handling equipment to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs, following proper ergonomic procedures.
