374 - 500 per day
We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to support our distinguished defence client based in Templecombe. Overseeing two concurrent projects, you will be responsible for managing the design development lifecycle of electronic products to meet critical obsolescence clearance. We’re looking for a delivery focused project manager used to managing engineering milestones to very specific schedules. We’re ideally looking for someone with experience in the Defence sector, but similar engineering focused experience would also be considered.
The products are of significant financial and strategic value and demand for the product is rapidly increasing so requires leadership, professional project management expertise, internal stakeholder management, and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks and opportunities. The role is initially being offered on a 6-month contract, but there is potential for extension or a permanent role. You will be expected to work in Templecombe 3 day’s a week, plus 2 day’s working remotely. We can offer a rate of 374.78 per day PAYE or 500 day Umbrella inside IR35.
Responsibilities:
- Motivating and supporting the engineering team and individuals within the Product Team.
- Defining execution strategies and leading the creation of schedule baselines and structures for various work packages
- Ensure that each work-package maintains a robust baseline at all times
- Establish and control KPIs for planned outcomes
- Ensure robust project controls are deployed and effective
- Liaison with contributing functions to drive quality, cost & delivery performance
- Management of change to baselined scope including the application of associated bid governance and the supply chain.
- Ensuring lessons from previous work are learned and incorporated.
Experience:
- Delivery of successful engineering projects.
- Experience managing engineering teams.
- Able to lead the process of structuring and planning complex projects.
- Risk and opportunity management experience.
- Commercial, financial and business acumen.
- Demand/business planning principles in a project context with a focus on the reliable forecasting of resource requirements.
- Experience giving an evidence-based account of progress and distilling key risks/opportunities/support needed.
- Communication skills – verbal and presentation/report writing
- Organisation and analytical skills in complex environments
Desirable
- Capture and/or bid management experience.
- Experience of leading a range of different project types – design & manufacture, service & support, transformation etc
- IPMA and/or other relevant professional Project Management qualifications appropriate to grade (APM PMQ qualification or equivalent)
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
