Job OverviewPDS Tech is seeking a hands-on Laboratory Test Technician (Electrical/Mechanical) to support the development, testing, and validation of electrical and mechanical systems in a laboratory and prototype environment. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined technician who enjoys working with tools, test equipment, lite fabrication and evolving designs while collaborating closely with engineering, science, and safety teams. The position offers long-term potential through a temp-to-perm structure and a stable first-shift schedule.
This role plays a key part in building, testing, and improving innovative systems used in laboratory, production, and applied technology environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesConstruct, assemble, and test electrical and mechanical systems and subassemblies
Support the development, build, deployment, and testing of prototypes and production-intent systems
Perform functional and performance testing to validate systems against design requirements
Prepare samples, collect test data, and document results accurately
Operate and maintain laboratory tools, fabrication equipment, and test instruments
Use electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes
Support PCB-level soldering, component replacement, and basic troubleshooting
Assist with the operation of milling machines, drilling machines, and lathes as required
Collaborate with engineering, science, and safety teams to ensure compliance with company and industry standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant lab environment
Travel up to 15 as needed to support testing or deployment activities
Required Qualifications1–3 years of experience in a laboratory, testing, manufacturing, or technical support environment
Basic knowledge of constructing and testing electrical and mechanical systems
Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication equipment
Familiarity with laboratory processes, data collection, and documentation
Strong math, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with multiple supervisors and cross-functional teams
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Willingness to work on-site full time
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)Associate Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field
(Degree preferred but not mandatory; relevant hands-on experience will be considered in lieu of formal education)
Experience with soldering, cutting, welding, grinding, and drilling
Experience programming or working with single-board microcontrollers or computers
Familiarity with higher-level programming languages
Experience operating manual machining equipment such as mills, drills, or lathes
