Composite Laminator
- Rates: 18 Per Hour PAYE (+holiday pay) / 23.82 Per Hour Umbrella + 20 shift allowance
- Shift: Double day shift, 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm – rotating weekly
- 12 month contract

Do you have a sharp eye for detail, a steady hand, and experience working with composites or metal bonding? We’re looking for a Panels Layup Technician to join a high-performing production team, focused on laminating, bonding, and assembling precision aluminium composite panels for cutting-edge applications in aerospace and space sector.
This is a hands-on, process-driven role where your skill in prepping materials, following technical drawings, and ensuring high-quality finishes will be key.
Responsibilities:
- Laying up and assembling aluminium composite panels using vacuum bagging, film adhesive bonding, and oven curing techniques.
- Working with aluminium skins and honeycomb core materials, preparing and laminating parts to meet high technical standards.
- Following detailed laminate manuals, 3D assembly models, and technical drawings to ensure precision and consistency.
- Using hand tools, guillotines, and industrial machinery to prepare and finish components
- Working within cleanroom environments, adhering to strict LDS (local document system) procedures and 5S protocols.
- Supporting production goals by maintaining quality, efficiency, and clean working practices.
- Assisting trainees, contributing to team meetings, and taking ownership of work within a tight-knit operational team.
- Flexibility to support other MAIT teams and, occasionally, work off-site in the UK or abroad if required.
Essential Skills:
- Background in manual or mechanical assembly within manufacturing or production.
- Excellent manual dexterity and experience working with composites, carbon fibre, or bonded materials.
- Strong ability to follow detailed procedures and interpret work instructions.
- High attention to detail, with a natural drive for quality.
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces when necessary.
- Proactive, adaptable mindset and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- NVQ, Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field.
Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience laminating aluminium or working with high-performance materials.
- Familiarity with reading engineering drawings and using 3D viewing software.
- Experience in cleanroom or aerospace-standard environments
